There has seemed to be some misunderstanding, not only in the UK but around the world, on just what files that we buy or own can be shared. When I download a music file from the internet I am free to use the material as I want as long as I do not pass it on to someone else. That kind of filesharing infringes on copyright laws. In order to protect the legal owners of data, the uk government goes after filesharing infringements. This will not only protect the rights of current data publishers but also encourage other people to use their own artistic creativity.
